How I became a royalty wizard

Music has always been at the center of my life. My father, Hans van Hemert, was a successful producer, composer, and songwriter, and my sister is Head of Legal at a music management company, Music at Work.
Growing up surrounded by contracts, royalties, and creative rights, I naturally developed a fascination for how artists actually get paid.

After an internship at R3HAB’s label Cyb3rpvnk, I joined Music at Work as a product manager to set up their label services department. There, I discovered how complex and inconsistent royalty statements can be and how often artists lose money because of it.

That’s when I started analysing royalty data myself. I began spotting missing payments and incorrect splits. Over time, what started as a side project turned into my profession.

Today, through The Royalty Wizards, I help artists, producers, and heirs of creatives uncover hidden income and gain full control over their royalties.
