How I became a royalty wizard
Music has always been part of my life. My father, Hans van Hemert, was a successful producer, composer, and songwriter, and my sister is Head of Legal at a music management company called Music at Work. At every family gathering, someone starts singing, and everyone joins in.
After an internship at R3HAB’s label Cyb3rpvnk, I joined Music at Work as a product manager in their label services department. On the side, I started collecting and analysing royalty statements for our clients and that’s when I discovered my passion. I loved breaking down every number in a statement, finding inconsistencies, and discussing them with the labels.
Eventually, I decided to start my own company: The Royalty Wizards. I now work independently, but I still collaborate closely with Music at Work to this day.

What we do
We provide royalty administration services for anyone working in the creative industry, including producers, songwriters, filmmakers and heirs managing a creative legacy.
Our work involves reviewing every contract and royalty statement to ensure all payments are accurate, transparent and in line with the agreed terms. We check for hidden costs, incorrect percentages and missing statements. If something doesn’t add up, we contact the sender directly. The result is a clear overview of your royalty income, including the royalties our service has helped recover.
Our service is flexible and tailored to your needs. Some clients ask us to handle their full catalogue on an ongoing basis, with updated income overviews twice a year. Others come to us for a one-time check, for example to verify a single royalty period across ten tracks.

To get started, we usually need two things: a folder with all relevant agreements and a folder with the royalty statements you have received. However, if you do not have access to these documents, we also offer services to help you recover missing statements and agreements in bulk.
